El Golfo
El Golfo was formed during the volcanic eruptions between 1730--1736.
El Golfo is situated on the western side of the island, once being a small fishing village which has now developed into a tourist attraction
with a constant stream of visitors coming to view the green lagoon ( La Laguna Verde) under the cliffs.
There are also local people selling the semi precious stone Peridot which are known locally as Olivinas.
There are few shops but many restaurants serving fresh fish all day, have a good look round before you decide where to have your meal, the better ones we find are
further into the village.
The beaches are lava and the ocean here is not suitable for swimming. The sea very often crashes down on the lava and is known as the
herideros or boiling waters.
